You might know what Dalgona coffee is. But do you know what Dalgona (달고나) is? Dalgona is a sweet Korean snack made of sugar and baking soda (like a thin honeycomb toffee). Dalgona has another name: Ppopgi (뽑기). '뽑기' means 'picking out.' Dalgona vendors sell the treat with a shape stamped in the middle; if you can remove the shape in the middle without breaking it, the vendor will give you a free Dalgona. In 'Squid Game', gamers that removed the shape from Dalgona survived. The movie is exaggerated, but the tension is quite 조마조마.
